HELENA BARQUILLA
Una de nuestras primeras Top Models, Helena Barquilla, tiene en la actualidad 36 años y nada sabemos de ella. Aunque su retirada pueda ser voluntaria es un lástima que los cánones de belleza apuesten más por las modelos adolescentes que por la mujeres de verdad.
A Helena tuve el placer de verla desfilar a finales de los 80, cuando en la puerta del Palacio de Congresos de Madrid, mendigabamos invitaciones para asistir a Cibeles. Siempre habia alguién que se apiadaba de unos pobres estudiantes y así vi desfilar a las mejores (Judith Mascó, Celia Forner, Paola Domingín ...) pero de todas ninguna me impresiono tanto como la Barquilla. Verla sobre la pasarela era como ver a una pantera en libertad: un espectáculo bellisimo que te fascinaba y te intimidaba a partes iguales.
Por eso hoy desde aquí mi recuerdo y admiración, para una generación de modelos que hicieron mucho por la entonces recién parida Moda España. Bellas por siempre.

Se la ha visto por la Copa América en Valencia. Regenta el bar La Quilla y sirve bocadilos de tortilla.
Cuando cierra el bar, la Barquilla sale a navegar con el Barquillo y se comen un bocadillo de pepinillo.
Pero que decis insensatos! la barquilla se recluyó en las carmelitas descalzas. Eventualmente pasa modelos de la presitgiosa marca Sor-Brá.
